Crisis of Capitalism
David Harvey asks if it is time to look beyond capitalism towards a new social order that would allow us to live within a system that really could be responsible, just, and humane?
Cultural values drive our systems. Regulation tries to control it. Many dedicated, smart, and intelligent people missed calling the crisis before it happened. Financial crisis is not solved, it’s moved around. It isn’t a problem of greedy unions, wages, or even financial innovation. The problem is excessive greed on the part of financiers. We need to change our way of thinking about money and finance, to bring pressure to bear on our systems that better reflect our cultural values.
